Hello,
I specialize in using the Orton-Gillingham approach and the Barton Reading curriculum to provide targeted support for students with delayed reading skills. By tailoring instruction to each student’s unique needs, I ensure a personalized and effective learning experience. My work in these roles has given me a deep understanding of the challenges students face and equipped me with the strategies and tools necessary to help them overcome obstacles, build confidence, and achieve lasting success.
My Story
My passion for helping students learn to read began during my first role as a preschool teacher at a private school. It was incredible to witness children read their very first sounds and words. Watching their growth over time was deeply rewarding.
I am passionate about helping people and wholeheartedly believe that learning to read fluently can greatly enrich a person’s life. I have over a decade of experience working with students in a variety of learning environments, supporting diverse learning needs, including Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Autism, and ADHD.
My educational training includes prescriptive tutoring, reading intervention, and applied behavior analysis. I am dedicated to creating a positive learning environment for each of my students, fostering respect, support, compassion, and generosity.
Currently, I am training under the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators to further deepen my understanding and expertise in helping students become successful readers and thinkers, both inside and outside the classroom.
My academic background in psychology, counseling, and wellness equips me with the skills to meet students where they are and help them build their learning and reading abilities from there.
In my personal life, prioritizing my health and wellness plays a key role in my ability to effectively support my students. I dedicate time to maintaining my well-being, enabling me to help others with greater capacity, both now and in the future.
I am so excited to embark on this journey with you, Rebekah.
